BIC bioeconomy platform for regions
The concept is based on a digital, partnering platform where regions and industry can make contact based on mutual interest. The platform focuses on creating local value chains and access to finance, namely helping regions and industry bridge the gap about bio-based investment opportunities at the level of regions.
Interested regions will be asked to complete a template for their profile in the platform (see section ‘What type of information should regions provide’). There is no fee for regions to be part of the platform. Since BIC members already benefit from a partnering platform as part of their membership package, they are therefore automatically granted access.
The aim is to set up the new platform by the end of 2019. Regions should notify BIC by Friday, 13 December of their intention to be included in the platform as work on building its architecture will begin as from early December.
Who is this platform aimed at?
European regions
For consistency, the definition of region for the platform is based on the national definition of a region (see FAQs). The goal is to include all European regions interested in stimulating bio-based investments in the platform, beginning with the most active ones.
Industry
BIC has more than 240 industry members ranging from large industries (including brand owners), to SMEs and SME clusters across multiple sectors, such as:

• Chemicals & materials (including bioplastics)
• Forestry and pulp & paper
• Technology providers
• Waste management
