FUNDING CALL: ERANET Joint Call 14 Biomass for heat in industrial DL 08.07.2021

The 14th Joint Call for Research and Development Proposals of the ERA-NET Bioenergy was launched on October 20th 2020 for proposals on the topic “Development and improvement of biomass conversion technologies for the provisioning of heat for industrial processes”.

The European Union (EU) is committed to combatting climate change and to increasing the security of its energy supply. Bioenergy has a key role to play in achieving both targets, and already accounts for more than two thirds of total renewable energy in the EU.

The promotion of “Development and improvement of biomass conversion technologies for the provisioning of heat for industrial processes” is vital to decrease Europe’s dependency on fossil-based raw materials; taking into account, that it is not only important to maintain and increase the amount of renewable resources that can be harvested on a sustainable basis, but also to use the available biomass as efficiently as possible. This call will thus support national as well as EU strategies. In this call ERA-NET Bioenergy aims to jointly fund innovative, transnational research, development and innovation (R&D&I) projects in the field of bioenergy primarily focusing on technology readiness levels in the range 2-7 (see the call text for more details).

Public funding is available for this joint call from funding bodies in Austria, Germany, Poland and Switzerland. The indicative total available budget amounts to ca. 2.5 Mio €.

The submission of proposals follows a 2-step procedure. Step 1 is the pre-proposal phase. Consortia who pass the first evaluation stage are invited to submit their full proposals.

On the 11th of November 2020 a networking webinar will be organized to give researchers the chance to interlink with each other and enlarge consortia.

More details on the call and the webinar can be found in the call text
