Exchange of knowledge and experience for development of natural resources-based services in tourism, well-being and other areas (1.2.3.)

The world’s small and large ecosystems provide services which we humans are totally dependent on, however that we don’t always acknowledge or reflect on. The ecosystems are the basis for the production of food, medicines and a variety of materials. They clean air and water, binds carbon, protects against flooding, avalanches, storm and erosion, and they allow us to both spiritual and physical experiences (NOU 2013:10)

The Joint Action Plan of Biobord Network includes an action related to these lastly, above mentioned, cultural ecosystem-services.

We want to exchange knowledge and experience for development of services in tourism, well-being and other areas, based upon natural resources.

The theme was identified as a joint interest area of Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences (Hedmark, Norway), JAMK University of Applied Sciences, Institute of Bioeconomy (Central Finland), Institute of Environmental Solutions (Vidzeme, Latvia), and Tretorget (Hedmark, Norway)

Together we plan to identify joint interest areas for transnational development projects – especially forest-based services promoting well-being and balance, stress-relief and recovery.

Our plan is to start from identifying the strengths and resources of each interested region (or partner). We will also look for relevant companies (SME’s) and research-institutions (RTD’s) to be involved in coming projects and relevant funding channels to initiate activities!

Facilitator: @Halgrim (INN University)
Involved experts: @Anna Aalto (JAMK), @Inese Suija Markova (Institute of Environmental Solutions) and @ingrid Hvidsten Gabrielsen (Tretorget)
